Investigation of technical implications of evolving from Microgrids to Peer to

Lead Research Organisation: Brunel University London
Department Name: Electronic and Computer Engineering

Abstract

This Project aims to investigate the effect that Microgrids and peer to peer energy trading have on the current and
modern power networks. Distributed Energy Resources, such as renewable energy systems are changing the way that
consumers interact with the power network. Traditionally this would have been all one-way traffic with consumers
buying their energy from large scale producers. The trend now is towards consumers becoming prosumers who may
have surplus energy which may be stored or traded to those with an energy deficit.
