What can be learned about black ontology through an interrogation of "transracialism" and racial-passing using a black.feminist.queer1 frame?

My proposed project is a work of Black Ontology, producing a theorisation of what "blackness" is and what it means to be "black". As a Black, Queer, Feminist project, it does this with the object of conceptualising a blackness that is informed by, and so more able to account for, the experiences black women and black queer people. I will conduct the research by producing a Black, Queer, Feminist reading of "transracialism" and racial-passing as social constructs and theoretical debates. The project is embedded in a tradition of interdisciplinary Black Feminist and Black Queer scholarship, and identifies itself in this way. As such, I believe the project is a theoretical and methodological complement for the portfolio of the Department of Gender Studies.
