Resistivity measurements of novel metal hydrides at high pressure

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

My research project will in involve measuring the critical temperature of novel synthesized metallic hydrides which are predicted to be high temperature superconductors and other interesting materials which exhibit interesting conductive properties. the first component of the project involves custom building a Diamond Anvil Cell which is capable of measuring resistivity of a sample, performing X-ray Diffraction experiments in order to determine the novel materials space group and structure and Raman spectroscopy to measure different properties of the new material.
