Novel Materials for Syn Gas Reactions
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Chemistry
Abstract
The aim of this project is to develop, characterize and screen novel catalytic materials for "wet"and dry syn gas reactions. Whilst the emphasis will be placed upon the determination of the activities of simple bulk-phase binary materials selected from the carbide, nitride, phosphide and boride/boron alloy families, second generation materials will involve the development of ternary materials. Promising candidate materials may be produced in supported form. Low levels of sulphur containing model compounds may also be added to the feed streams and their influence on activity and structural/chemical stability of the novel materials will help determine their suitability for use in processes with non-conventional syn gas sources.
