Abstract

Hydrodynamical simulations will be used to investigate the consequences of giant impacts between planetary bodies. One particular example to be considered is an impact into a proto-Jupiter that may lead to a Jupiter with a diffuse core as has been inferred from Juno data. In addition to the scientific projects, the SWIFT hydrodynamical simulation code will be extended to improve the treatment of material boundaries, and material strength will be included too.
