Advancing Economic Development in Sheffield City Region: Data Analytics Approach

he UK government has made "levelling-up" a central part of its economic strategy for the UK. The proposed PhD studentship will focus on developing the evidence base needed to achieve this goal in the most effective way for Sheffield City Region (SCR). The project is timely as SCR has recently received new devolved powers to bring about economic development and an additional £30m of funding a year to improve infrastructure, transport, skills and housing. This significant devolution deal provides an opportunity to shape investment for South Yorkshire's economy, infrastructure and people. The PhD studentship will be at the heart of this new strategy, applying cutting edge statistical and data analytics methods to develop models and simulation tools that will inform policy intervention.
