Productive Union of Phosphine Organocatalysis and Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry

Lead Research Organisation: University of Huddersfield
Department Name: Sch of Applied Sciences

Abstract

Hypervalent iodine reagents are exceptionally useful compounds that have been utilised in a wide range of applications including in synthetic chemistry, polymer synthesis, radio-labelling and medicines. This project is concerned with developing a new application of hypervalent iodine compounds as electrophiles in phosphine organocatalysed reactions. Phosphine organocatalysis and hypervalent iodine chemistry are both mature fields of study; however, the combination of these two areas has been little studied.
