Single-photon emission from atomic ensembles excited to Rydberg states

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The project is to study single-photon emission from atomic ensembles excited to Rydberg states. This will involve work on both experimental work using both laser cooled cold atoms and room temperature atomic ensembles in a vapour cell. In the case of the room temperature vapour a part of the project will be to design and build the cell using integrated waveguide structures.
