Closing the Loop: Next Generation Solutions in Fully Traceable Re-usable Packaging for the Automotive
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Warwick
Department Name: WMG
Abstract
The project aims to design a solution for fully-traceable and re-usable packaging to support GEFCO UK's logistics services to their automotive clients. Key stages of the project are:-
- The mapping of current state flows and identification of value losses
- The quantification of issues and associated environmental impact with current packaging and labelling solutions
- Researching available tracking, identification and verification technologies and identifying potential solutions
- Evaluating potential solutions from economic, social and environmental perspectives
- Implementing a pilot of the preferred solution
- Developing a roll-out plan for the chosen solution
It aligns with the EPSRC cross-cutting theme of the Circular Economy.
