Automated Decision Making in Infrastructure

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Engineering

Abstract

This research project focuses on the 'Algorithms in autonomy' work stream and seeks to create a method for how we can manage and control autonomous plant in a way which yields optimal:
Efficiency on task;
Safety of site workers;
Ability to respond to dynamic environments.
With an initial focus on Earth Moving operations, the primary goal is to create a framework that enables the management, monitoring and development of multiple and varied autonomous plant tasks. Ultimately, it's about distilling a Complex Infrastructure Project into a machine-readable form as much as possible as to then be able to model and predict outcomes based on different decisions.
