Abstract
My study is concerned with English as an additional language (EAL), a label that is assigned to a deeply heterogeneous group of school children in England. EAL students comprise nearly 20 percent of school children and yet there is very little known about them. I aim to contribute to the better understating of this heterogeneity by investigating the long-term effects of EAL, and look beyond school attainment, into the higher education and labour market outcomes. I utilise the Longitudinal Educational Outcomes (LEO) database to link individuals throughout their life journey. I will draw on sociological theories of justice and equality as my overarching framework with a quantitative approach to data and analysis.
