Abstract
This project aims to simulate, understand and characterise the flows inside transmissions systems, with particular emphasis on understanding flow regimes and heat transfer. The project will use high fidelity CFD modelling to gain an improved understanding of the fundamental flow physics in theses highly complex environments. The interfacial behaviour of fluids and the interaction with the turbulent structures present, along with hear transfer behaviours will be identified in a variety of increasingly complex scenarios.
The result of these high fidelity simulations, combined with existing experimental data, will then be used to train machine learning models. These models will allow complex dependencies on parameters to be uncovered and tested, with the results applied to representative systems.
