Higher Structure in String Theory

Abstract

First we need to know what do we mean by higher structures.

By structures, we may mean situations where there is a redundancy in our theory. To put it into other words, we are having more degrees of freedom as we should. The classic example of such a situation is Maxwell Theory of Light or more generally "Yang-Mills" theories.

The standard model constructed by these theories has been the most successful theory physicist ever came up with.

The result should be that Gauge Theories are the ones to describe our world.

The correct mathematical description of a such a theory is particles are "transported" by the Theory. But now, with the introduction of String Theory, we believe that 0-dimensional objects are not the only objects of our universe. So the full theory of our universe must contain "Transport of Higher Objects". It is worth mentioning that higher versions come with very bigger redundancies that may go out of control.

These concepts has already become successful in the way of formulating M-Theory (see arXiv:1903.02888 for example).

The Mathematics of Higher Transport is not completely settled (see arXiv:1911.06390).

It is surprising that physicist used to work with these things. Two areas of which are SuperGravity and Anomally Matching.

Our main goal of study is to study in detail the (2.0) theory which describes interaction of M-2 branes with M-5 branes which has passed several consistency checks and deeper understanding may result in better understanding of full M-Theory which is unknown.
