Abstract

Exploring the digitization of Human Resource Management and examining the implications on Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace: an international comparative case study.
The research proposal seeks to examine the extent to which HR digital technologies have been adopted by firms in the United Kingdom and also conduct a cross-country comparison of the findings. Furthermore, the study seeks to explore how digital technology in HR business servicing is addressing D&I through a lens of intersectionality (Crenshaw, 1989)
Objectives of the study
The study seeks to achieve the following objectives.
a) To conduct a cross country investigation of how digital technologies in HRM have
transformed traditional HR activities
b) To examine the impact and implications of digital technologies in HRM on diversity
and inclusion
Research Question
The research will be guided by the following central research question
How have advances in HR digital technology affected workplace diversity and inclusion?
The following subset of questions will support the study.
1. How have digital technologies transformed HR activities and work practises in a
virtual working environment?
2. What cross-national comparisons can be drawn in HR outcomes as a result of HR
digital transformation of activities and processes?
3. How effective are digital technologies in HR services at achieving diversity and
inclusion metrics?
The research is of significance to Human Resource professionals and Leaders. The study
seeks to contribute academically and in practise to the expanding field of digital technology
in HRM. It is anticipated that the analysis of the cross-national case studies will produce
findings and recommendations that could highlight the changes, challenges and implications
of increased digitization of HR business services and its impact on Diversity and Inclusion.
