Search for supersymmetry in events with missing ET and b-jets with ATLAS

Abstract
The student will use Run-3 data to search for evidence for supersymmetry in events with final states with b-jets and missing transverse energy. Models will be investigated where a bottom squark decays into a Standard Model bottom-quark and a neutralino.
A detailed study of the background from top quark production in association with Z bosons will be conducted.
The student will also work on improving the reconstruction of hadron jets in the forward region of the detector by developing a technique to reduce the background noise
