Novel Electron Transfer and Electrosynthetic Approaches to Opiate Analgesics

Lead Research Organisation: Imperial College London
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

The proposed research involves an ambitious programme that blends pure synthesis with the advancement of new free radical methodology and electrochemical flow applications in modern synthesis and also the development of original synthetic applications. In this outline proposal we aim to discover novel agents for the treatment and cure of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, ranking the impact of this project at high social and national importance, since the expected turnover for this discovery is expected to be in the $M as the cost of treating dementia sufferers is expected to reach $16.7B per annum by 2017. It is predicted that this work will be highly patentable.
