Ship Hull Hydrodynamics

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Engineering

Abstract

Most of the leading research today focuses on a single roughness height to model the effect of roughness on ship hulls. The exact methodology to reproduce the non uniform distributions of roughness of different height for the purpose of numerical simulations is not established.
I intend to address this specific problem through this PhD. A methodology will be proposed to accurately predict a ship's friction resistance at the hull while taking into account all the typical roughness features.
