Beyond Evaluation: Legacy and the Cultural Ecosystem post - City of Culture
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Warwick
Department Name: Sch of Theatre, Perform & Cult Poli Stud
Abstract
Reflecting on the developing legacy of the City of Culture for Coventry's creative sector, this
collaborative research project aims to provide valuable insight on how legacy is experienced by
individuals and organisations, using Coventry Biennial as a live Case Study.
Providing in-depth account of relationships and processes, findings may offer insight on 'the general by
looking at the particular' (Denscombe, 2021), as example of broader type (Hammersley, 1992; Ragin and
Becker, 1992).
Founded in response to the city's 10-year cultural strategy and bidding for City of Culture, Coventry
Biennial is a distinctive arts organization, extensively networked within the city and region, and in the
process of becoming a new NPO.
