Development of a multimeric self-amplifying RNA rotavirus vaccine
Lead Research Organisation:
Imperial College London
Department Name: Infectious Disease
Abstract
Improvement on rotavirus vaccine efficacy will increase protection against rotavirus disease in LMICs where efficacy from the currently licensed rotavirus vaccines is lower but burden of disease is greatest. A decrease in the cost per dose and streamlining vaccine manufacturing (due to the use of synthetic saRNA) will decrease financial dependency on GAVI and increase the possibility for technology transfer to resource limited countries to take control of their vaccine requirements.
