Modelling pattern formation in colonies of chemotactically active microorganisms

Lead Research Organisation: University of Liverpool
Department Name: Mathematical Sciences

Abstract

Chemotaxis is a fundamental phenomenon in biological life which can result in the formation of simple and even complex patterns. Many models of active E-coli that undergo chemotaxis producing such patterns have already been described so far. In this presentation, I will be describing such models, and considering numerical simulations of chemotaxis models with an emphasis on stability and accuracy of used numerical algorithms.
