Mini-Fountain Cold Atom Clock
Lead Research Organisation:

Department Name: Oxford Physics
Abstract
The Mini-Fountain Cold Atom Clock project will design and demonstrate a compact physics package (cold-atom source, microwave cavity, vacuum system) for an atomic fountain clock that achieves similar performance to full-sized Primary Frequency Standards. The project will also use all-in-fibre control optics to improve the robustness and reliability of the device, while further serving to reduce size and complexity. This system will allow exceptional hold-over capability in the event of GNSS outage, as well as widening access to state-of-the-art microwave frequency stability.
