An Investigation of Matter Smart Home mechanisms to mitigate Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Department Name: Computer Science

Abstract

The rational of the research project investigates an aspect of the Matter Smart Home protocol in determining the effectiveness of the mechanisms to mitigate Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. The work envisages a scenario where Smart Home security devices such as Security cameras, Door-locks and sensors could be selectively incapacitated by using Denial-of-Service flooding attack. If such an attack were made, for example by hijacking consumer internet routers - this would pose an exceptionally serious threat to home security.
