Exploring the Relationship Between Transport Infrastructure and Inclusive Growth Using an Accessibility Approach and Data from the OpenStreetMap

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Geographical Sciences

Abstract

The relationship between transport infrastructure and inclusive growth is the overarching topic of my research project. I will focus on the reduction of economic inequalities and social exclusion. My research project on this topic is divided into three parts. The first question of my research project is how investments in different types of transport infrastructure are spatially distributed and whether institutional differences can explain this distribution. The second question of my research project is what impact changes in the transport infrastructure network have had on local and regional accessibility. The third question is how changes in regional and local accessibility have affected income and living conditions in the UK. The time period I will investigate is the past 15 years.
