Floating Offshore Wind: A multidiscipline engineering investigation and option appraisal of Major Component Exchange Activities

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Engineering

Abstract

This project aims to conduct an in-depth study of Major Component Exchange strategies for floating offshore wind turbines, focusing on both Tow to Port and in-situ maintenance approaches to provide recommendations to the OSSIAN wind farm. By developing and implementing strategies to enhance the reliability and efficiency of offshore floating wind operations and maintenance, this research will advance knowledge in the field as well as provide a pioneering approach to MCE in floating offshore wind at scale while seeking to maximise energy production, minimise operational expenditure, and ensure safety.
