Hybrid Modelling of Loads and Structural Response on A Floating Offshore Wind Turbine
Lead Research Organisation:
Durham University
Department Name: Engineering
Abstract
Thesis summary: In this proposed PhD research project, we will develop a high-fidelity hybrid computational model to more reliably and accurately evaluate the environmental responses on floating offshore wind turbine platforms due to interaction of wind, wave and current loadings. Based on the results of the computational model, lower order modelling will be developed to suit performance prediction for industrial relevant full scale offshore structures. The ultimate objective of the project is to contribute to a more accurate prediction and a more robust and economical design of floating offshore wind turbine structures and therefore contribute to the global Net Zero 2050 target.
