Abstract

Testing Cosmology with the Dark Energy Survey and the Legacy Survey of Space and Time We are at a crossroads for observational cosmology. Will the standard cosmological model suffice to account for current and forthcoming observations, or do we need a modified or new model? The Dark Energy Survey is in its final stages, and there is the opportunity to contribute to its ultimate measurements of cosmological parameters, using a combination of galaxy clustering and gravitational lensing. In this PhD project, the student will begin by joining the DES effort to measure cosmology in the DES Y6 key project. After this apprenticeship, the student will use their growing experience in measuring cosmological quantities with clustering and lensing to make some of the first cosmological measurements in the Dark Energy Science Collaboration, within the Legacy Survey of Space and Time with the Vera Rubin Observatory.
