Investigating Dark Matter in Semi-Visible Jets at CERN

Lead Research Organisation: Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

Dark matter represents one of the main mysteries in our current understanding of the universe and its nature is completely unknown. Dark matter could be made of particles and could be generated in the Large Hadron Collider collisions. This project focuses on models of a QCD-like dark sector which would generate unconventional signatures in LHC collisions. In some cases, the dark particles can decay as soon as they are produced in the collisions in a mixture of lighter dark (invisible) particles and SM particles generating semi-visible jets.
