A description of a complex online genome browser for the model plant arabidopsis. This was the first Plant Ensembl to be developed and the first Ensembl to be widely used that was not made by EBI staff or ex-staff. It integrated genome sequence, gene models, array data and germplasm data for the first time anywhere in the world for any multicellular organism.
