The principal focus of the criminal law is upon the discrete actions of individuals: stealing from and/or physically injuring other people; or damaging property. Fraud is mainly about getting goods, money or services by ÔdishonestlyÕ deceiving other people or institutions who would not supply them (at least on those terms) if they knew the truth; but it can also involve causing losses to others without any obvious benefit to self.
