Abstract
The goal of the research is to use a Bose Einstein Condensate as a medium to simulate the dynamics of systems. These include, but are not limited to, the dynamics of black holes, neutron stars and simply systems of vortices. This will be achieved by phase imprinting solitons, most notably for the above effects, vortices. We can then manipulate the conditions the solitons are formed in, and study the behaviour of these solitons as they evolve.
This is fundamental research which will allow greater understanding of these dynamical systems.
