Abstract
The impact of religion on support for LGBTQ+ pupils has not yet been researched in the context of mandatory teaching about LGBTQ+ issues, despite the new Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) Curriculum in England and the forthcoming Relationships and Sexuality Education in Wales. This research will take a multi-sited, multi-phased case study approach across the contrasting RS(H)E policy terrains of England and Wales, with a focus on critically exploring how religion and queerness interact in secondary schools. This research seeks to have real world impacts on pupils by generating qualitative data and co-producing resources that will enable schools to best support their students.
