Department Name: ADM Birmingham School of Media
Abstract
The project will provide developmental Knowledge Exchange support for the 18 transnational collaborative research projects funded within the Humanities in the European Research Area's 'Cultural Encounters' programme. The project will involve liaising with HERA project teams and non-academic partners across Europe, capturing the Knowledge Exchange work undertaken within each consortium, identifying common themes and models of good practice, and making recommendations for enhancing KE activities both within individual projects and the HERA programme more broadly.
A final report will be delivered in January 2016 and report findings will be presented to the HERA JRP board at the end of February 2016.

Description | Knowledge Exchange forms an integral part of the HERA Joint Research Programme (JRP). Since 2013, the 18 projects funded under the HERA Cultural Encounters JRP have established an impressive range of international partnerships both within and outside academia. High quality, world leading, research has been undertaken in collaboration with Associated Partners, and the breadth of collaboration demonstrates the potential of humanities research to have a significant impact on organisations and individuals operating within and beyond the cultural, creative and heritage sectors. Key findings include thematic links between the 18 Cultural Encounters projects and a series of recommnedations for how KE activities could be supported in future. |

Description | The report 'The Dynamics of Exchange' will infomr future Knowledge Exchange policy and practices for the HERA Joint Research Programme. Cultural Encounters project teams have already described changes in their approach to KE following this consultation. Following the consutation period, the HERA JRP Board decided to establish a Knowledge Exchange and Impact Fellow position to support funded projects and serve as advocates for the HERA programme. I was awarded an initial Fellowship following an open application process. |
