Implementation aspects of lattice-based cryptography on hard ware

Lead Research Organisation: University of Birmingham
Department Name: School of Computer Science

Abstract

Lattice-based cryptography offers wide applicability, computational efficiency, and strong post-quantum security and forward secrecy in communications. This PhD project will investigate implementation aspects of lattice-based cryptography on hardware and software platforms.
In the recent years, new lattice-based cryptographic schemes for key exchange, public-key encryption, digital signature, homomorphic encryption, functional encryption etc. have been proposed. Efficientimplementation of these new schemes will be challenging and very interesting as it would require tweaking the mathematical steps ofthe cryptographic schemes, design of efficient algorithms, hardware
architecture design and platform-specific optimization.
The main goal of this studentship will be to develop optimised and side-channel protected algorithms for lattice-based cryptography and implement them on hardware and software platforms.
