Qubits in diamond for quantum communication

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The prototypical examples of single photon emitters, nitrogen vacancies and quantum dots, suffer from poor performance in some properties necessary for scalable quantum communication. We aim to investigate Group IV vacancies in diamond (Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) as a platform to address these shortcomings. These vacancies, treated as qubits, have the potential to be integrated in nanostructures that would strongly enhance their optical properties.
