Recovery and reuse of silver metal across the high technology value chains (SILVER)

Lead Participant: DZP TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED

Abstract

This feasibility project is a collaboration between DZP Technologies Ltd (DZP) and the University of Warwick (UoW), aiming to develop and demonstrate a process for the recovery of silver from manufacturing waste and re-using it in high technology value chains. Silver is a precious metal and well known for its use in jewellery and coinage. However, silver is also one of the most important technological materials. Practically every electronic device - from a mobile phone to electrical vehicle - contains silver as a key conductive component.

The project is focussed on the resource efficiency of industrial silver, as a key material of the future economy (especially power electronics and electrification), together with taking steps toward the formation of resilient and flexible supply chain in the UK.
