Abstract

How is it possible for the mind to represent the world? This is usually understood as the question of how it is taht something internal to a person - a mental representation - is able to reach out and grasp its objects. I argue for a simple answer: the mind reaches out to its obejcts in the same way that you reach out and grasp objects. The ability to represent the world is not the sole remit of mental representation. Rather, representation extends out into the world in the form of action.
