Place-Based Programme Director
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Glasgow
Department Name: College of Social Sciences
Abstract
The aim of the programme is to identify the most effective ways for AHRC to directly invest in the future, build on areas of strength and reach out to disciplines across and beyond the arts and humanities that have the potential to contribute to this area. This will be achieved through three inter-connecting work packages based on the objectives of 'scoping', 'identifying', 'communicating'.
The Programme will work with and cover the full range of arts and humanities disciplines as defined by the AHRC/UKRI.

Description | The Programme has developed a range of evidence surrounding the value of arts and humanities approaches for place-based work. This can be broadly categorised into 3 areas: 1. Place; 2. People and 3. Process. Through both the work of the Programme and the 9 Knowledge Exchange projects we have developed findings in a). understanding the contributions of arts and humanities to place-based work; b). the scope of knowledge across the arts and humanities; c). the impacts of this work; d). partnership and collaborative working. Of particular interest here is the conceptual and practical development of 'felt experiences', defined as the way that people feel in and about place, and the ways in which this concept is changing the ways in which we can work in more place-sensitive ways. |
Exploitation Route | The outcomes are being taken forward in the next phase of funding for the Programme as well as in a range of other ways through UKRI and beyond. |
