Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description The research conducted during the funding period led to a number of high impact research publications.
The most important finding was the manner in which the electrons in a metal on the so called fermi surface, influence and control the magnetic structure of the material. We investigated this using a combination of experiments at large scale scientific facilities in the United Kingdom and Japan, and state of the art computational methods
Exploitation Route Our research findings are of general interest to others in the field of condensed matter physics notably in the field of quantum magnetism and frustrated magnetism. At the higher level our research gives new understanding in physics that may be of use in the field of electronics, specifically spintronics.
