Cardiff PATT Travel Grant

In our current PATT Linked Grant we were awarded a total of £32,592 for the period 04/2016-04/2018. We have currently spent 72% of this allocation and expect to have spent 100% by the time the current grant period ends. Here we request a slightly expanded allocation of £42,242 to support Cardiff's substantial observing programmes in the next period. This request is justified by: (i) an increasing role played by Cardiff astronomers in leading and supporting JCMT legacy surveys; (ii) a continued effort in leading two guaranteed time programmes on the IRAM 30m; (iii) new research opportunities for Cardiff to use new instrumentation on the LMT; (iv) a sustained (even slightly increased) number of Cardiff observational astronomy staff.
