Abstract
Developmental biology studies the development of a single cell into multicellular organism, which involves repeated cell division, differentiation and growth as guided by the genome. A common model organism used to study the early stages of development in vertebrates are chic embryos, as they are easily cultures in vitro and are morphologically similar to human embryos. One key even during early embryogensis is the formation of the primitive streak, an axial structure known for marking the beginning of gastrulation.
