Developing a new and novel spectral energy distribution fitting code

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sussex
Department Name: Sch of Mathematical & Physical Sciences

Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop a new and novel spectral energy distribution fitting code. This code (codenamed: Flexible Spectral Analysis Tool - FSAT) will be designed be able to recover the full probability distribution for a range of physical properties. FSAT will be tested and refined using results from galaxy formation simulations before being applied to a range of observational datasets ranging from a sample low-redshift Extreme Emission Line Sources to publicly available Early Release Science observations from JWST.

Results and Impact The royal society Sumer science exhibit is a demonstration of the cutting edge of UK science and technology. I was part of the organising team for the James Webb Space Telescope exhibition there. It showcased both our work done on the instrumentation of this telescope, and the science it will enable UK astronomers to carry out once it is launched.
