Oscillation studies at T2K and Future Long Baseline

Lead Research Organisation: Royal Holloway University of London
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The student will will work with data from the T2K experiment to understand uncertainties for making neutrino oscillation measurements, especially those coming from neutrino cross section uncertainties, and implement strategies for reducing these uncertainties. These will then be used in oscillation measurements. The student will also work on understanding techniques for systematic uncertainty reduction for future long baseline neutrino experiments including hardware work and sensitivity studies for oscillation measurements.

PI Contribution I help develop the analysis framework for the CCD images from the detector. I am also involved in the hardware side of things, helping build and setup the HPTPC experiment.
Collaborator Contribution The collaboration helps with day to day work on both hardware and analysis, as well as giving feedback at weekly meetings
Impact The vessel under went a beam test at CERN successfully. Two papers are being written subsequently
