Sensing and Biomedical applications of organic semiconductors

Lead Research Organisation: University of St Andrews
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

This project will develop instrumentation and techniques for novel sensors based on organic semiconductors. Application areas include chemical sensing of trace explosives, biological systems, and medical applications. With a view to reaching a better understanding of the sensing mechanism in conjugated polymer chemical sensor films the project student will develop mathematical models of sensor behaviour and compare them to experimental measurements. The project will combine materials science and pure and applied physics research.
