Searching for new phenomena via model independent measurements at ATLAS

Lead Research Organisation: University of Manchester
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

The goal of this project is to look for new phenomena through the measurement of finaal states
including MET, heavy flavour particles and zero/ leptons. The measurements will be model
independent and detector-corrected with a sensitivity to new physics. This is different to the more
common approach of direct searches, which look for more specific evidence. This difference also
allows future models to, potentially, be compared to the analysis.
