Abstract
Superconformal field theories are an ideal theoretical laboratory for our understanding of strongly-coupled dynamics in various spacetime dimensions. In recent years this subject is undergoing lots of new developments with more and more exact results becoming available. In this project we will realize superconformal field theories within the formalism of string theory and use string theory methods to infer information about superconformal phases. The main aim of the project is to understand the geometrical counterpart within string theory of the computation of superconformal indicies in various dimensions and to develop novel tools to characterize non-lagrangian dynamics.
