Abstract

The project will involve two main topics: the fission studies in the heaviest Fr and Ac nuclei, and
the nuclear decay spectroscopy in the neutron-rich Tl-Ac region. The experiments will be performed
at the ISOLDE mass separator at CERN(Geneva). The use of laser ionization in conjunction
with the mass separation provided by ISOLDE will provide uniquely clean sampes.
