Analysis of the gamma angle at LHCb
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Bristol
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
The gamma angle is an important parameter in the Standard Model. It comes from the CKM matrix, a summary of the mixing of different quark flavours with the Weak interaction. Representing it as a unitarity triangle gives rise to gamma, which is also the least precise measured quantity in the SM. It is a key area of research to improve this precision, as it isa key place to look for tension with SM predictions.
This project will use a new method to measure gamma, contributing to a new precise result.
The project is with the LHCb collaboration.
This project falls within the EPSRC physical sciences research area, but is not EPSRC funded.
