Department Name: Law
Abstract
A comparative study in defining,
identifying and safeguarding vulnerable adults in police custody suites in
Poland and England.
How does the
project speak to the
theme of the
Pathway including
'grand challenges'
identified by the
Pathway? (200
words max)
The proposed research examines the identification of and police responses
to suspect vulnerability in police custody in England and Wales and in
Poland, as well as pushing the boundaries of knowledge about how
vulnerability is conceptualised and why differences arise between the
jurisdictions of interest in the treatment of vulnerable suspects. The project
has a clear connection with the Security, Conflict and Justice Pathway of
the WRDTP, particularly to the sub-theme of justice.
