Abstract
The teaching of gender identity in primary schools is imperative for inclusive education and an area of growing controversy. In primary schools, this controversy is heightened due to dominant discourses of childhood innocence (Robinson, 2005). This project will work collaboratively with LGBTQ+ primary school teachers to identify key issues in the teaching of gender identity, explore how best to support LGBTQ+ teachers, who often feel more visible and responsible for this aspect of the curriculum (Lee, 2020), and to develop possible solutions.
