Optical Clock Arrays for Precision Metrology
Lead Research Organisation:
Durham University
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
The goal is to create arrays of individually addressable, laser-cooled, strontium atoms for applications in precision frequency metrology. Specifically we aim to confine the atoms in an array of optical tweezers at a "magic wavelength" that enables each atom to be used as an individual atomic clock. Applications include precision spectroscopy of Rydberg energy levels and creating entangles states for quantum metrology.
